This marked copy is the one Kent used at his sentencing. The notes were used to call attention to key points.
Many Bible characters gave an 'allocution" type speaches as well. Kent's reading of the marked parts of this never answered document is part of the court record but the record also shows that, in spite of his showing the laws he relied on and asked questions about, his sentence was greatly enhanced rather than minimized.
